UNWIND GIVES BACK
Here at UNWIND, we believe that giving back is just as important as joining in.
We wouldn't exist as a studio without our wonderful community around us. So we try to take part and give back as much as possible. Whether it's participating in 5Ks, town fairs, or hosting classes and events at our studio to raise money for charities, we try to spread a little good karma whenever and wherever we can.
IN OUR STUDIO
Here at UNWIND we host a variety of classes and events in our studio that benefit even those who don't practice yoga. From Karma Classes that raise money, Community Classes that help inspiring yogis, and free meditation and yoga classes for those in need, we try to help in a variety of ways. We are open to partnering with you on a charity based event if you have an idea too.
Every month, we host Momcology Caregiver Coffee Breaks with the support of Momcology and local businesses. These Coffee Breaks are where moms of pediatric cancer patients can join us in a free yoga class and, afterwards, for free bagels, snacks, and conversation at Bagel Cafe next door. Momcology also provides retreat opportunities for parents of a child diagnosed with cancer, and co-owner Aubrey volunteers to bring yoga and meditation from UNWIND to these events.
Other classes and charities we've taken part in or hosted:
-
Free yoga and meditation classes for pediatric cancer caregivers to help with stress and anxiety during this challenging time.
-
Private meditation sessions in coordination with the Silver Liming Foundation to help a patient through their cancer journey.
-
Gifting a yearly unlimited membership to a pediatric cancer warrior from Summit.
AROUND OUR COMMUNITY
Hosting events in our studio isn't all that we do. Getting out into the community and spreading some yoga knowledge and wellness to help others is also something we're passionate about. Yoga is proven to have physical and mental benefits, so we're always excited about bringing the practice out into the community.
In April 2019, we held a donation-based meditation class at Grace's House to benefit The Valerie Fund. Grace's House was a designer show house in honor of Aubrey's daughter, Grace, and helped raise money for The Valerie Fund's Green Light Initiative to help provide comprehensive care to kids with cancer and blood disorders and their families.
We have also travelled for Momcology retreats to be their onsite yoga and mediation instructor.
UNWIND has also participated in the New Providence Street Fair, took part in the Chatham School's Wellness Fair, and were a sponsor and vendor at New Providence's National Night Out.
In addition to being a sponsor at the NJ Sharing Network's 5K Run, we led the pre-run stretch. We also brought free yoga to the New Providence Community Pool for kids and teens.
We've also given back by making donations to or providing baskets for giveaways at:
-
New Providence Memorial Library, Adult Summer Reading Program
-
St. Andrew's Preschool & Kindergarten, New Providence
-
Kent Place School, Summit
-
The Academy of Our Lady of Peace, New Providence
-
Summit Lions Club
-
Center for Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, Scotch Plains
-
Zumbini, a new business in New Providence
-
New Providence Dentistry

KARMA CLASSES
Sign Up, Give Back
Karma Classes are free donation-based classes we hold to raise money and awareness for different organizations in and around our community. To date, we've raised over $1,000 for various organizations, and look forward to raising more in the future.
So far, we've held Karma Classes that have benefited:
-
The Valerie Fund
-
Alzheimer's Association
-
American Childhood Cancer Organization
-
Semper Fi Fund
-
New Providence EMS and Fire Department

COMMUNITY CLASSES
New Class, New Practice
We also believe in supporting new yoga instructors on their yoga journeys. Our Community Classes are free yoga classes that give new teachers a chance to show off their skill and perfect their teaching. It also gives our yoga students a chance to get to know new teachers and put some variety into their routine.
